The 2024-2025 school year marks a historic milestone for Kansas Wesleyan University as the institution welcomes its 1,000th student. This significant achievement comes after 138 years of steady growth and underscores KWU’s commitment to providing a high-quality education and a vibrant campus experience.
With just over 1,000 students enrolled, KWU is buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The university has a packed calendar of events planned to celebrate this momentous occasion. One of the highlights is the newly renovated Bieber Dining Hall, which opened its doors to students at the start of the school year. Additionally, the re-opening of Sam’s Chapel on October 19 for Homecoming will be another memorable event. With Homecoming around the corner there are plenty of events to keep you busy. Check out Homecoming events this year on our Student Development Instagram.
This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of KWU’s admissions team. Through tireless efforts, the team as successfully recruited students from across the country and events internationally. From Texas and California to Germany and Mexico, KWU has attracted a diverse and talented student body.
Teachers have enjoyed having more students in their classes. Many do not find that the class sizes have changed very much. The class sizes are still the same small and comfortable size that students prefer. Professor Botson of emergency management stated, “The classes I teach have maintained a decent size. Ensuring the classes aren’t too big and each student gets any individual help they need.”
The enrollment growth has transformed KWU’s campus into a more inclusive and dynamic learning environment. Students from various backgrounds have the opportunity to interact with one another, share their perspectives, and broaden their horizons. This diversity enriches the academic experience and prepares students for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
Students are excited to have more people in their majors and in their classes. However, many find that accommodations are not being made for the larger number of students attending their year, With lack of parking lot space and lack of dorm space. Lucus Nutter, Music Education major stated “There is not adequate space for all of the students to park. Making it difficult to find a spot when you arrive for your classes.”
As KWU continues to expand and evolve, the university remains committed to its mission of providing a transformative education. The milestone of 1,000 students enrolled is a testament to KWU’s success and a promising sign of things to come. The university looks forward to welcoming even more students in the years ahead and creating a legacy of excellence.
