Welcoming back K-Dub students from Thanksgiving Break with holiday cheer! As finals are approaching, Christmas activities give students time for a brain break from studying all week. On Saturday, December 7th, Salina’s Rolling Hills Zoo had its holiday lights up ready to share with everyone. The lights were set up in the museum portion of the zoo, but the event was still nicely set up. They had their gift shop open, photo opportunity areas in the lobby and inside the museum, and even had Mr. and Mrs. Clause to share your Christmas wishes with. The lady joked saying “You could wish for an A on all of our finals!”

Rolling Hills Zoo is a 16-minute drive from campus. Not terribly far away to round up a group of friends to go and see Christmas lights. The zoo’s museum had many different terrains from the safari to the tundra. One part of the exhibit that many individuals gathered around was the replication of the aurora borealis better known as the northern lights. On the other hand, some people were a bit scared by the animatronic people in the exhibits. They were not turned on but some felt a bit eerie about them they stated, “It feels like they could start moving at any moment.”

The event didn’t start until 5:30 p.m. and ended at 8 p.m. A big time frame to get the opportunity to see the museum, as the whole experience itself didn’t take long to get through. If you were to walk in and go through the whole museum it probably takes around 20 minutes. That time estimate could vary depending if you are taking your time or rushing through the whole experience. It was very nice to see all the different variations of Christmas lights they had set up for everyone to enjoy. Overall it was a fun event to go to and definitely something to check out if they do it again next holiday season!
