Homecoming 2024 Scrimmage: KWU MV
Written by Alyssa Smith on December 16, 2024
It’s homecoming weekend, and the day is jam-packed with events! The Kansas Wesleyan University Men’s Volleyball team had an intrasquad scrimmage at 10 a.m. This was the first time seeing the 2025 team in action. Bringing excitement to spectators and people who have never really watched men’s volleyball. Having fresh faces with the freshmen class adds to the team’s existing talent! Hopefully, the coyotes will have a successful season when they start in spring.

Exciting plays were made in the scrimmage, especially considering how quick the game can be. Most notably, the scrappy plays that surprised everyone when the ball made it over the net. With players from both sides swinging away at the block and smashing the ball into the ground! The liberos taking charge of the back row showing their leadership as well on the court overall. Making sure they were the loudest and passing well in serve receives.

Even though the gym wasn’t as full, the energy was high! Noting again the amazing talent that the team has, but especially the joy they brought to the court. They were so entertaining and positive, never letting a play get them down. A piece that will be essential to winning games. The lively energy, the cheers, the smack talk at times, this is what makes it so much fun to watch.

Overall the scrimmage went well and was something for alumni to come and watch. Especially if they didn’t have men’s volleyball when they were in school. Men’s Volleyball has increased a lot in popularity and the future of the Kansas Wesleyans Men’s Volleyball program is only growing! Homecoming weekend was the perfect time to bring in people to watch and gain interest in the program. Having more people to come and support them in their upcoming season!
