Written by Brandon MacCarter on December 16, 2024
This weeks Kansas Wesleyan International student athlete spotlight goes to Lewis Potter Scarborough. Lewis is a defender standing at 6’1 175 pounds. Lewis, works in the den at the school, and is one of the kindest, most friendly humans. However, on the soccer field, he’s known as the enforcer of the team. His job is to protect his offensive members. However his main job is to ruffle the opposing teams players. Lewis Grew up in Kent, England a massive city of about 1.6 million people. Lewis has played soccer his entire life and always dreamed of playing at that next level. After school every day he would train, lift, and eat correctly to ensure his chances at being successful at the next level. Upon graduating High school, Lewis hired an agent in hopes to play in college or for a club team at home or overseas. After careful consideration and many conversations, Lewis Chose Kansas Wesleyan to be his home. He stated in an interview “Honestly the main reason why I chose Kansas Wesleyan was because of the number of international students the team had. There was clearly a reason they had so many of these guys and I knew there was going to be a ton of competition. I immediately got excited and really honed in on the school because of this and Am super grateful to have been blessed with an opportunity like this”. Lewis in his interview spoke on many other topics like his opinion on the school as well as the facilities stating at one point.. “Although the school is small and not the newest, I’ve really come to love this place and all the people it has to offer. The faculty, teachers, and students really make this place feel at home and I love the atmosphere it brings”. He also spoke on the coaches stating later that ” The coaches were not a concern for me at all due to there age and amount of talent they brought in. Seeing all those guys from different parts of the world told me immediately what I was getting into so trusting the coach was really easy, he’s a great leader and has a lot of development to offer to everyone”. Kansas Wesleyan will continue to strive in soccer because of the foundation, culture, and competition they have cultivated in the past 3-5 years.
