KWU Men’s Basketball First Practice
Written by Dreylin Kemp on December 16, 2024
The Coyotes had their first official basketball practice September 16 as they prepare for another promising season. The Coyotes have had 20+ wins over the last 3 seasons after viewed as a losing program in the past. Seniors Alex Littlejohn, Easton Hunter, Izaiah Hale, and Caden Hale are all returning this year after being huge contributors in the success of the program in their years at Kansas Wesleyan.
The Coyotes have also brought in many talented transfers and newcomers who look to help the program as well. The team is looking to get over the hump to be the KCAC conference champions and go deep in the NAIA National Tournament to win it all. Littlejohn mentioned how this season the Coyotes are preparing differently. “Are practices are more detailed as coach really want to expand our options when it comes to offense this year”. Hunter mentioned the “intensity coach is bringing to the practice” as Coach Monson believes this team can do as well as the previous teams and go even further. When asked what the team is looking forward to this year Izaiah Hale and Caden Hale mentioned, “Winning the KCAC and hosting another home tournament game”. They also mentioned the Hawaii trip as the team is looking forward to traveling to Hawaii in December for two games. The Coyotes have been working hard in conditioning, weight room, and practice as they prepare for the upcoming season. The first game is Friday, November 1, at home against Northern New Mexico College at 8:00 PM.
