What is the Multicultural Student Union?

The MCSU is a club at KWU that promotes diversity on campus. As the Club president Shanya Murape stated, “My goal as president of MCSU is to intertwine international students and American Students as a melting pot. To help spread culture and stories. To give everyone a home away from home!” The club wants to make everyone on campus feel like they belong here at Kansas Wesleyan, whether you’re from the states or from somewhere international. They also hold quite a few events on campus every year to bring students closer together. Club meetings tend to happen on Tuesday nights, at 8-8:30 pm, in SAC 203. Club leadership invites anyone to attend meetings!

Their club sponsor is Dr. Allen Smith and you can find him in PSH 238 if you have any questions about MCSU!

Upcoming Events

As stated before, the MCSU holds many events on campus, and this year is no different. From a silent disco to a talent show, this club has a lot in store for you!

Starting October, there is the silent disco on the 4th. This will run for 7-9 P.M. in the Muir Gym.  Next they have two talent show audition days, October 22nd and the 29th in the Fine Arts hall. The last event being held in October is their game of Trivia on the 23rd, which will happen on the stage in the SAC.

That however is not all the MCSU is planning for this semester. In November they will be holding their dress rehearsals for all acts in the talent show on the 5th and the 12th in the Fine Arts hall. The talent show will take place on the 15th. Speaking of this talent show, there is a cash prize for 1st, 2nd , and 3rd place. 1st place will win 200 dollars. 2nd place will win 150 dollars, and 3rd place will win 50 dollars.

What MCSU Can Do for You

Over the course of the semester, our writers have collected many quotes from students about MCSU, here are some of our favorites.

“MCSU has helped me meet a lot of new people!” Alexis Dixon, MCSU Social Media Chair

“I think they do a very great job at running events, as well as having multiple events a month. Not many clubs can do that.” Ryah Kilma, KWU Student Media Editor In Chief.

“They’re a good environment on campus and their events are super awesome.” Madelene McVey, SGA Treasurer.
