Recap: KWU Women’s Volleyball 10/08/24

The Varsity Women’s Volleyball game between Kansas Wesleyan University and Baker University was played in an exciting four sets: Kansas Wesleyan 3 vs. Baker 1. The match started at 7 o’clock, with KWU’s starting lineup of Gianna Adriaanse, Kate Bebout, Sara Bebout, Kyla Moore, Josie Deckinger, Kylee Harris, and Kori Arnold.

Your leaders from Kansas Wesleyan University for the match were: Attacker Kate Bebout(11 kills); Assists Josie Deckinger(23 assists); Aces Kate Bebout(5 aces); Blocking Kate Bebou(3 blocks); Digs Kori Arnold(21 digs); and total leading scorer was Kate Bebout(18 points). Leaders from Baker University for the match were: Attacker Aby Widhalm(19 kills); Assists Alyssa Champane(14 assists); Aces Kylie Murray(2 aces); Blocking Aby Widhalm(6 blocks); Digs Emma Grossoehme(17 digs); and total leading scorer was Aby Widhalm(23.5 points).

The first set score was 25-12. Kansas Wesleyan dominated over Baker, with a total of 16 kills. Kansas Wesleyan got the crowd going for an exciting home game and the hope of marking another win on the board. From the gates, Baker was a scrappy team making any last-stitch effort to keep the ball up and off the floor.

The score for the second set was 25-17. Kansas Wesleyan had a slow start to the set but was able to gain footing and finish the set. Notable players: Josie Decking pulling a few new tricks to get the ball on the ground and staying aggressive at the net, Ella Schmid and Kori Arnold’s amazing defensive skills, and hustling to every ball.

In the third set, Kansas Wesleyan falls to Baker, the score being 25 -20. Staying close throughout the set, Baker ultimately slipped away with the small victory by the end of the set. Baker made their presence known in Mabee Arena. Erasing the sweet victory of a 3-set sweep from Kansas Wesleyan and fighting for the win.

The fourth and final set of the match score was 25-19 with Kansas Wesleyan taking home the win! Baker having some fight left in them that was sadly not enough vs Kansas Wesleyan’s determination. Ending the match with a service ace by Kate Bebout. Hoping the best for the Kansas Wesleyan Women’s Volleyball team after this win to build a winning streak and chase for diamonds.
