Written by on January 23, 2025

Everyone talks about a man’s best friend and there’s nothing better than coming home after a long day and as soon as you open the door your getting bombarded by your loving companion, a dog. Nobody talks about how beneficial a dog can be in your studying and schoolwork though. Meet Schuyler the loving and enthusiastic do  that helps students with their troubles in school.

Schuyler, nicknamed after one of the founders here at Kansas Wesleyan Dr. Schuyler, resides in the library every Wednesday from 3-5pm. and is there for students to help with there needs in the classroom and just be that loving dog that every person loves. We talked to Professor Jenn Moran who is a student success coach here on campus and resides in the library here on campus and gives us her thoughts on Schuyler and how a dog can be beneficial to a students success.

“Schuyler brings the best out of the students… there’s nothing better than seeing a students smile on their face while doing schoolwork,” said Moran. Students strive in their best work when they’re happy and that’s what Schuyler brings. It’s stressful being in the middle of studying for midterms or writing a paper for English but the goal with Schuyler is to bring these students a new wave of energy when studying. “She just sits there and chews on her bones and sometimes will go out and see what students are doing and try to get them to pet her and even I can say that she brings me joy if I’m having a bad day and I look out and see her joyful self,” Moran continued.

Schuyler has been a success so far and has been following the long line of success dogs here on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan and we hope she continues to be her joyful self and continue to be… A Student’s Best Friend.
