Kansas Wesleyan University has made a bold move to reshape its future, announcing the hiring of Matt Middleton as team’s new head coach. The announcement was made on November 25, 2024, with Matt Middleton’s official start date set for December 31st, 2024. Middleton will take over as head coach of Kansas Wesleyan University’s football program in Salina, Kansas.The University was looking for a coach who could motivate players off the field as well as on it, in addition to winning games. The strategic knowledge, motivational abilities, and dedication to student-athlete development of Middleton made him stand out. Following a nationwide search, Kansas Wesleyan University’s selection committee identified Middleton as the ideal candidate. The leadership of Kansas Wesleyan University expressed confidence in their selection. Trust, Accountability and Credibility
Middleton earned a sociology degree and a social studies minor from Louisiana Tech in 2002. In 1997, he helped the Mississippi College Choctaws win the American Southwest Conference championship while playing wide receiver. Middleton helped his team win the 1996 5-AAAAA state championship while playing quarterback and wide receiver for West Monroe (Louisiana) High School from 1993 to 1997. Luke, Caden, Kash, and Kross are the Middletons’ four boys. Middleton worked as an assistant at Division II Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas and Division I Louisiana Tech and Central Arkansas prior to Harding. He has served as head coach of three Louisiana high schools and as an offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and assistant head coach at the university level.
