Salina’s Best BBQ? A Hickory Hut Review

Welcome back! Jacob here, and today we’re diving into the world of BBQ, specifically at Hickory Hut, a restaurant touted as Salina’s best according to TripAdvisor. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype! As always, you can catch my video reviews before these blog posts go live on Instagram and TikTok.

The Texas Stacker

Being a Texan myself, I felt obligated to try something that reminded me of home: the Texas Stacker. This behemoth consists of brisket, provolone cheese, and onion rings on a toasted Kaiser bun. I also grabbed a side of potato wedges. Check out their full menu here to see what else they have!

Time for the taste test! My first impression? Not bad. It’s worth noting that I didn’t add any extra sauce to the sandwich. While it wasn’t terrible, it was a little dry, and I have to admit, I was expecting brisket slices rather than pulled brisket. The food arrived promptly, and while it was a decent meal, with all due respect, it wasn’t quite the Texas BBQ I’m accustomed to. Overall, I give the sandwich a 7.25/10. The potato wedges, however, were excellent, earning a solid 9/10.

The sandwich cost around $10.49, which is pretty average for BBQ, so I’ll give the price a 6.5/10 – nothing too crazy. Now, for the service: it was outstanding! The staff was amazing, everything came out perfectly, and they did everything right. That deserves a perfect 10/10.

In total, Hickory Hut earns an overall score of 8.2/10.

Summary

  • Service: 10/10. Great service all around with a super friendly staff.
  • Price: 6.5/10. Average BBQ price.
  • Food: 8.125/10 (combined rating of the sandwich and potato wedges).

I’d say Salina BBQ isn’t half bad, and if you’re looking for a BBQ joint in town, Hickory Hut is definitely worth a visit! Thanks for readingthis week’s food review. Stay tuned for next week’s culinary adventure!
