Monday Night Alive- A Closer Look

Monday Night Alive is led by Rise Up!, a praise group on campus. This band is currently being led by campus ministry intern Gianna Adriaanse and overseen by campus pastor Scott Jagodzinske.

Monday Night Alive!

A few of the members of the band answered questions about them and their experience of being a part of Rise Up! here’s what they have to say…

Joshua Chelvan

Sophomore, Financial Mathematics Major with a Music Minor

Activities Involved In:

Chelvan: Philharmonic Choir

Redden: Jazz band, Howl band, Trio, Esports- Chess division

Jagodzinske: Campus ministry, and everything that comes with being the campus minister

Adriaanse: Women’s volleyball team

Q1: Why did you join the praise band?

Chelvan: “I can praise God in school and do one of my favorite hobbies of playing the piano.”

Redden: “To grow in worship for Christ and to bring the joy of Christ to others.”

Jagodzinske: “Express worship to our God.”

Adriaanse: “I joined the praise band to gain better knowledge, experience, and opportunity to worship the lord.”

Q2: What is your job(s) in the band?

Monday Night Alive logo.

Chelvan: Pianist/Vocalist

Redden: Synth/ Vocalist

Jagodzinske: Sound, Guitar, Vocalist, (whatever is needed) 

Adriaanse: Worship leader, vocalist, pianist 

Q3: What is your favorite song in the repertoire? Why?

Chelvan: “I don’t currently have a preference out of the songs we’ve done so far. I just like the time to worship.”

Redden: “Goodbye Yesterday, one of the few songs we played that I listen to daily almost.”

Jagodzinske: “The Blessing, I just usher in the presence of God.”

Adriaanse: “I think my favorite song is “The Lord Will Provide” because it really reiterates the promise of how much God cares for us and how much he will provide.” 

Q4: What is a verse or verses you live by, and why?

Chelvan: Joshua 1-9 “[That’s] how I got my name.”

Redden: Ecclesiastes 3 “For everything there is a season and time for every matter under heaven…”

Jagodzinske: Philippians 4:13 “Now ain’t that interesting that loving our God we can accomplish any task, especially as a team when our hearts are in line with God.”

Adriaanse: Proverbs 3:5-6 & Psalms 18:34 “These are some of the verses I live by because they help calm and ease my worries of the future while also helping me recognize that everything I go through will make me so much stronger in the end.” 

Q5: How would you describe Monday Night Alive?

Rise Up!

Chelvan: “A time to rest”

Redden: “An experience to become closer with Christ and to meet others who are pursuing the same.”

Jagodziske: “It is a time to join our hearts together to step away from the pressures of the world, and just allow our lives to be impacted by our God.”

Adriaanse: “Monday Night Alive is a time where people can come to put their worries behind and focus on the peace that comes with worshipping the Lord.”
