Kansas Wesleyan Makes History with First Indoor Championship
Salina, Kansas.- The Kansas Wesleyan Cross Country and Track & Field team have made history, capturing their first-ever indoor conference championship and shattering multiple records along the way. Under the leadership of Head Coach Kyle Hiser, who was named the KCAC Men’s Head Coach of the Year, the Coyotes showcased dominance and determination throughout the competition. Coach Kyle Hiser guided the men’s team to its first-ever indoor conference championship, a monumental achievement in Kansas Wesleyan’s athletic history. The team’s outstanding performances across multiple events solidified their place at the top of the KCAC standings.

A Championship Season Filled with Record-Breaking Performance
In the field events, Keegan Lott delivered an impressive performance in the men’s shot put, securing his first KCAC title with a winning toss of 15.74 meters. His victory added crucial points to the team’s overall success.The men’s 5000-meter race was another highlight, with Damion Jackson clocking an impressive 14:59.58 to secure third place. This marked the first sub-15-minute performance in school history, further demonstrating the team’s elite level of competition.
Men’s 4×800 Dominates for Third Consecutive Title
The men’s 4×800 relay team continued their reign, capturing their third consecutive KCAC championship. Their time of 7:48.13 not only secured the victory but also met the NAIA qualifying standard and improved upon their season-best performance. The championship-winning relay featured Wyatt Johnson, Triston Cottone, Ty Davidson, and Julian Avila.
Men’s 4×400 Moves to Third in School History
The men’s 4×400 relay team also stepped up, running a season-best time that placed them third in school history. The team of Wyatt Johnson, Ty Davidson, Triston Cottone, and Nate Chavez finished fourth in the event, capping off a strong overall team effort.
Women’s 4×400 Breaks School Record
The women’s 4×400 relay team delivered a thrilling performance, breaking their own school record by 0.01 seconds with a time of 4:11.23. The record-setting team included Brionna Floryd, Joni Schroeder, Ava Kenyon, and Hailey Nordhus. The women’s 4×800 relay team put on a strong showing, finishing in third place and earning First Team All-KCAC honors. The squad, consisting of Joni Schroeder, Kirsten Hackney, Hailey Nordhus, and Madisyn Ehrlich, displayed resilience and teamwork in a highly competitive race.
Women’s DMR Secures Second Place Finish
The women’s Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team delivered a runner-up finish, further contributing to the team’s overall success. The squad, consisting of Madisyn Ehrlich, Julie Rottinghaus, Lauryn Mikkleson, and Josie Koppes, fought hard to secure their second-place standing.
A Historic Season for the Coyotes
With multiple record-breaking performances, conference championships, and national-qualifying marks, the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes have cemented themselves as a powerhouse in the KCAC. Under Coach Hiser’s leadership, the team continues to push boundaries and set new standards for excellence in collegiate track and field.
