“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31

Background

Gianna Andriaanse was born and raised in Emond, Oklahoma with her two younger sisters and loving parents. Andriaanse spent the majority of her life in private school but eventually switched to public school. Her love for volleyball began in 7th grade when she joined to hang out with friends. It also helped that her mom played in college.

She started playing piano at 8 years old because her parents wanted her to learn the instrument. After a few years, she began falling in love with the piano. She began playing piano for worship in her junior year of high school. This made her realize it was something she was called to do.

Over the course of the last year, she’s been working on singing in worship she commented:

“I didn’t start singing and leading worship until less than a year ago. I used to be so afraid of singing in front of people, but after I changed my mindset from singing for performance to singing for worship God eased almost all of my worries and ‘stage fright.'”

Campus Life…

Addriaanse is a sophomore this year studying Nursing with a Music Minor. She is involved in volleyball, plays piano, bible studies, and leads the Monday Night Alive team- Rise Up! She is a busy woman but prioritizes her faith.

Being saved…

Andriaanse was saved at a very young age and was raised in a Christian household. When she moved for her first year of college she learned how much of her faith stemmed from her parent’s faith. She has made an effort since then to try to become closer to God. A faith that is hers and no one else’s. “Within these past 2 years I have learned how important it is to die to my flesh, and refuse to constantly humble myself, I feel as if I am growing closer to God.”

Why Campus Ministry…

“Honestly, I chose to join campus ministries because I looked at it as a way to spread God’s love through something that I’ve done my whole life: music. After I prayed about the opportunity and talked to my parents about it, I felt the Lord’s peace prompting me to move forward.

Advice For Future Interns…

“My biggest advice for future campus ministry interns is to stay firm in your faith no matter what. Place your identity in what can’t be taken away- which is God. The enemy will try to attack you the stronger you grow in your faith, and you have days where you don’t even know why you were called to serve. People will be against you and life will be uncomfortable, but that’s okay because God will be right with you, guiding your path every step of the way. Keep your eyes on the road ahead.”
