The Coyotes are heading to the NAIA Women’s National Championships for the first time since 2020, marking a significant achievement for the program. KWU secured their spot in the tournament after clinching the KCAC regular season title with an impressive 23-7 overall record and an 18-4 record in conference play. The Coyotes’ success this season has been driven by standout performances from several key players, with four earning KCAC All-Conference honors. Lamyah Ricks, Angel Lee, Hampton Williams, and Jill Stephens were all recognized for their exceptional play, while head coach Ryan Showman was named KCAC Coach of the Year.

Ricks, who was named First-Team All-KCAC and a member of the All-Defensive Team, has been a dominant force on both ends of the court. She averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, leading the Coyotes in scoring.

Lee, a Third-Team All-KCAC selection, provided a consistent offensive presence for KWU, averaging 11.8 points per game and posting an impressive 52% field goal percentage.

Williams, also named Third-Team All-KCAC, was a force in the paint, contributing 10 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Stephens, named an Honorable Mention All-KCAC, showcased her sharp shooting ability with a 44% three-point shooting percentage, adding 9 points per game. The Coyotes now look ahead to their opening game at the NAIA Women’s National Championships, where they will face #2 seed MidAmerica Nazarene in Olathe, Kansas, on March 14. MidAmerica Nazarene ended their regular season with an impressive 28-2 record and won the Heart of America Conference regular season title. The winner of the matchup will advance to the second round on March 15, with hopes of continuing their tournament run to the Sweet Sixteen in Sioux City, Iowa.

KWU’s return to the national stage represents a major milestone for the program, and the Coyotes will look to build on their strong regular-season performance as they compete for a national championship.
