The Coyote Activities Board (CAB) offers a platform for KWU students to actively participate in shaping the campus experience. Planning and executing a wide range of events, from the popular silent disco and poker nights to elegant formal dances and casual movie nights. Additionally, CAB plays a crucial role in welcoming incoming students during orientation.

As a growing organization, CAB seeks to expand its membership and gather diverse student perspectives. Increased participation allows us to curate events that truly reflect the student body’s interests and desires. We work in close partnership with the Student Government Association to organize larger, collaborative events. More information about SGA can be found in this article from KWU Student Media.

A recent highlight was our partnership with “On the Pot,” a local ceramic painting business. Students enjoyed creative evening painting and personalizing ceramic items, which were then fired and returned to campus. This highly successful event underscores CAB’s commitment to delivering engaging and memorable experiences for all students. CAB has hosted many pop-up events in the SAC that have included sweet treats, or more recently making posters for the Women’s Basketball playoff games.

Leading the Coyote Activities Board with dedication, senior Carly Wells, from Dwight, KS, has significantly impacted campus life. A Pre-Physical Therapy major, Wells has invested considerable time and effort throughout her years at Kansas Wesleyan University, playing a vital role in the conceptualization and execution of many memorable events that enrich the student experience. Wells joined CAB to get involved on campus during her freshman year and has been able to meet many new people. “It has allowed me to get involved with other groups within campus as well!” Wells stated. She has also been able to encourage others to get involved with CAB and other organizations.

Marvin Mitchel serves as the dedicated staff coordinator for CAB, bringing his expertise as the Coordinator of Student Engagement at KWU to the forefront. In this role, Mitchel provides essential guidance and support to the Student Government Association, CAB, and various Student Life initiatives, including events and media, ensuring a cohesive and enriching student experience.

Future Events

The Coyote Activities Board regularly meets on Tuesdays in the Student Activities Center to brainstorm and organize exciting campus events. As the academic year draws to a close, CAB is gearing up to host a Silent Discon on May 9th. This unique event will feature three DJ stations, with attendees casting votes to determine the night’s top performer.

Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 academic year, CAB is already laying the groundwork for a dynamic calendar of events. Now is the perfect time to get involved and contribute to the planning process. Preliminary discussions include the possibility of a formal dance, engaging orientation activities for incoming students, and vibrant club fairs designed to showcase KWU’s diverse student organizations.
