Russell’s Restaurant: A Salina Classic That Delivers

Welcome back! I’m Jacob Fallon, and today we’re stepping into a Salina institution: Russell’s Restaurant. Known for its comfort food and classic diner vibe, Russell’s has a solid reputation. Russell’s has a 4.3/5 star review with over 2,000 reviews according to Google Reviews. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype! As always, you can catch my video reviews before these blog posts come out on Instagram and TikTok.

A True Taste of Salina Comfort

Located at 649 Westport Blvd, Salina, KS 67401, Russell’s offers a menu that screams “home cooking.” Today, I opted for their Hunters Breakfast that cost us around $14.75, and that consisted of a Pancake, Sausage Links, Eggs, and a Hashbrowns, I also got a Chocolate Milk. My first impression was warm and inviting. The atmosphere felt like stepping back in time, and the aroma of familiar dishes filled the air.

So, let’s dive into the food. First up, the Eggs, as the eggs were quite basic I opted for scrambled because I feel that scrambled is the best type of egg and it was good I do like my eggs a little runny and those weren’t, maybe if I specified that to the lovely waitress then they may have been more to my liking but that won’t affect the rating. They were cooked well although I feel like I didn’t get much eggs and they could use a little salt landed it a 7.7/10. Next up the hash brown, and boy was that an amazing hash brown. nearly perfect and it may have been the best I have had! With its great flavor and well seasoned it was also cooked well. Overall it was good and that landed it a 9.8/10! one of the highest scores yet! Now up is the sausage links and you do have the option for; bacon, sausage patties, and ham. So the sausage links didn’t look too appealing, but never judge a book by its cover and the sausages were good but I have had better. They could’ve been maybe cooked a little longer to make them not as soft but other than that they were good and that landed it a 7.2. Lastly the pancake and boy was this a big pancake it was bigger than the plates in the caf and I mean the whole plate. But even better was the taste and making a pancake that big and that tasty is definitely something that’s hard to do. So I tasted it without butter and syrup and it was so good it landed a 8.7/10. This was an outstanding performance by Russell’s Restaurant and this might be the best in Salina. But I will not crown them the best until I have Bayard’s Cafe and that is coming soon.

The service was also top-notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made us feel right at home, earning a solid 10/10. The price was great for the large portions and quality of the food, a 9/10. You get what you pay for, and at Russell’s, you get a great meal.

Summary:

  • Service: 10/10: Friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome.
  • Price: 9/10: Reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.
  • Food: 8.35/10: Delicious, comforting, and made with care.
