When you think of baseball many people would just initially think of generic things. Throw a ball, hit the ball, field the ball. Nine Players on the field for two teams competing to be in the lead after twenty seven outs. what people don’t understand sometimes is that those players have a background and are able to be in Salina or just in the Untied States because of this beautiful game.
Will Yamka is a Junior here on the Campus of KWU and is a left handed pitcher here as well. Will who was burned and raised in Ontario in Canada talked about his past in baseball in Canada and how his journey there lead him to KWU. “The culture is defiantly different here for sure… you look around and you have elementary schools competing in competitive baseball games where our high school didn’t even have that.” Yamka played on the Ontario Blue Jays baseball all club with is a competitive club that makes the effort to get players recruited and into college baseball. After a brief stint at Cloud Community college here in Kansas, connected with another Canadian in head coach Bill Neale. Will looks to help the Coyote Baseball team get another KCAC baseball title.
That’s the beauty that this game brings is the opportunity to achieve greatness no matter the background. We see this all over KDUB as well in every sport where we have people from Canada, Germany, and other countries as well that come here for the opportunity to achieve greatness.
