KWU Women’s Basketball Amazing Season Ends

First/Second Round
KWU women’s basketball team season came to a end after making it to the NAIA National Tournament for the second time in recent history. After outlawing the KCAC conference champions, the Coyotes went on to the win their first round KCAC tournament game against a scrappy Saint Mary’s team 80-77. Following in the second round the Coyotes suffered a buzzer beater lost to Friends 62-64. Ending their KCAC tournament run, but with winning the conference this gave the Coyotes an automatic spot in the national tournament.

Placing them at a 15th seed going in they faced off with MidAmerica Nazarene. The Coyotes was able to get gutsy 1-point win 70-69. LaMyah Rick led scorers with 15 points. Followed by Angel lee 12, Jill Stephens 12, and Paige Chauncey 10. In the second round against MidAmerica Christian, the Coyotes suffered a 20 point loss 74-94 ending an amazing season. The Coyotes scored evenly with Ricks leading again with 12. Followed by Hampton Williams 12, Catherine Bowman 10, Lee 10, and Jocelyn Hall 11. Unfortunately, they gave up a season high 94 points.

Season Recap
The team finished 24-8 (18-4), which was one of the best seasons in KWU women’s basketball history. There are 8 players graduating and moving on. So, when asked what’s next? The team is getting ready to bring in recruits to help the players returning next year. Hopefully to be able to follow up with another amazing season. When asked what was your favorite moment of the season? Kourtney Kaufman and Paige Chauncey mentioned, “…”. Congrats to the KWU women’s basketball team for having an amazing season. And creating great memories in Mabee Arena.
