The Kansas State Fair is now in full swing! The annual event kicked off on September 5^th and will conclude on September 15, offering a must-see experience for Kansas residents and visitors. This event is held at the State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, the fair offers the best traditional and innovative foods, thrilling Midway rides, and exciting Grandstand events. It’s the perfect day trip or weekend getaway for students, promising the best memories.

Grandstand Entertainment:

The Kansas State Fair features events in the Nex-Tech Wireless Grandstand Stadium every year. This year’s lineup features legendary country artist Wynonna Judd alongside rising star Kimberly Perry. Rock out with the Goo Goo Dolls, witness the annual demolition derby, and so much more!

Everything Midway

Prepare for a whirlwind of fun at the “Everything Midway”! From the exhilarating Raptor Run to stomach-turning Downdraft. This area has rides to satisfy every daredevil. Get ready for dazzling nighttime lights and unforgettable memories (although those deep-fried Oreos might hit a little differently after a few rides on the Disco!).

The Kansas State Fair offers plenty of free entertainment to keep you smiling. Enjoy family-friendly shows, marvel at the talents of Lady Houdini, or escape the heat in the air-conditioned buildings. Browse through rows of vendor booths packed with interactive activities for kids, and unique souvenirs to take home. Don’t miss the dedicated building showcasing the state’s largest pumpkins, tomatoes, and other impressive agricultural achievements. This building also features the annual butter sculpture, a must-see masterpiece!  

KWU Students’ Favorite Fair Foods

After speaking to students around campus there was an easy vote for #1 fair food being Funnel Cake.

Here are some of Kansas Wesleyan students favorite fair foods! 

• Reese Kimmi, junior, Criminal Justice and Sociology major, from Salina KS, said “The fair has the best junk foods you can find! My favorite, Moink Balls!”
• Lucas Nutter, a sophomore Music education major, from Salina KS, said “Funnel cakes are 100% the best you could find at the fair!”
• Colleen Regan, sophomore Studio Art major, from Junction City, said “No doubt, funnel cake is my go-to fair food.”
• Allison Cole, sophomore Pre-Athletic Training major, “My favorite fair food is spiral potatoes on a stick!”
• Vy Lee, sophomore Accounting major, “The best in my eyes has to be the funnel cake!”
