KWU Students Enjoy (Silent) Disco
Written by Shaw Lee on September 16, 2024
Coyote students came out Friday September 13th and participated in a Silent Disco event last Friday September 13th.
Marvin Mitchell II the Coordinator of Student Engagement was in charge of putting on this event.
A couple dozen students showed up to Muir Gym Friday evening at 7:30- 9 where the event was put on.
Students picked from the headphones at the entry table and could also pick up some glow in the dark wristbands.
The lights in Muir Gym were turned off so students were encouraged to grab some swag to light up the gym.
Silent Disco setups are fairly simple, put on the headphones provided and pick between one of two stations that were preset into the headphones and enjoy the music.

There was music for everyone to enjoy with songs ranging from hip-hop to pop to country.
The students certainly seemed to enjoy the music as well.
Earl Gray, a sophomore on the football team said, “The music is great” and “I’m enjoying time with the guys.”
Gray was there with a couple fellow football players who were bored and just looking for something to do.
He also said “More people should come out to student events.
One of those fellow football players was sophomore Jordan Diggins. He was in charge of the songs all the students were listening to.
Diggins was connected to Apple Music and was in charge of one of the two stations.
Mitchell asked him to help out and provide the songs for everyone. He also thought the night was going well “so far so good” he said.
Brodie Bradshaw, a member of the cross country and track teams, was excited to be there and mentioned the music was good.
He and several of his friends and teammates said they were having a good time.
They also wanted to encourage other students to come out and participate.
Bradshaw also iterated how it was the smallest turn out of the disco nights they attended. It is his third year here at KWU and said it was “packed last year.”
They recalled the one put on last year was after a basketball game and could’ve been why there was a bigger turnout.
Members of the women’s volleyball and women’s basketball teams that showed up and danced along to the silent music.
