Pumpkin Painting in Phieffer!!

Fall is in the air! With Halloween around the corner, you know what that means? Pumpkins! Decorating pumpkins on your porch or in your dorm now being in college. Having actual pumpkins wouldn’t be the best idea with them rotting, so when 2nd South in Phieffer painted pumpkins they were plastic. This event was held on Thursday, October 24th, 2024 in the main lobby of Pfieffer, coordinated by RA’s McKenna and Odessa. The event was rescheduled because the pumpkins were not ordered in time, so they pushed back the event two weeks later.

Now, the timing most likely affected the number of residents who attended because many girls stated that they “forgot that this was happening.” Those who did come, even if it was by chance that they walked by the lobby, had an amazing time! We were able to have great conversations catching up on what everyone was doing. Breaking out into a little bit of karaoke! While a couple of people were waiting for paint to dry on their pumpkins they played a bit of table tennis. Overall we helped each other figure out what design to do on our pumpkins. Many of us were able to do more than one pumpkin as there were plenty of plastic pumpkins to go around.

Figuring out ideas was hard to think of in your head, so many of us went on our phones to Pinterest! Flooding with all sorts of ideas, some pumpkins were cute and some were very creepy. With being able to do multiple pumpkins some were inspired to do similar ideas. One of the girls stated, “‘Do you mind if I steal your idea with the blood dripping…” “Too late I am already doing it you can’t stop me now.”’ Everyone had a good laugh after that remark due to how sassy and humorous it was. In the end, the event went well even if not everyone showed up because those who did still were able to have fun and were able to take back many new decorations to their dorm!
