KWU Soccer Team Spreads Holiday Cheer
Written by Sofia Velasco on December 6, 2024
The Kansas Wesleyan University women’s soccer team kicked off the holiday season by volunteering at Salina Elementary School’s Frosty Festival. The event was packed with fun activities for kids and families, and the soccer players were there to make sure everything went smoothly and everyone had a great time. From games to crafts to wrapping presents, the team was all in, bringing big smiles and plenty of holiday cheer.
Fun with Math and Reading Games
The big gym was buzzing with excitement as the soccer players helped kids with Math and Reading Games. These weren’t just any games, they were holiday-themed! The players made math and reading feel like a party, cheering the kids on as they solved puzzles and read stories. Their energy was contagious, and everyone was having so much fun that they forgot they were learning too!
Fidget Toy Fun in the Art Room
Over in the art room, kids got creative with the Create Your Own Fidget activity. The players joined in, helping little ones make colorful and cool fidget toys. It wasn’t just about making something fun to play with, kids were proud of what they created, and the soccer players were right there, celebrating each masterpiece like it was the best thing ever.
Letters to Santa Bring the Magic
What’s a holiday event without Letters to Santa? Back in the big gym, kids sat down to write their holiday wishes, and the soccer players made it extra special by helping them put their thoughts into words. They listened, laughed, and made every kid feel like their letter was going straight to Santa’s mailbox at the North Pole.
Pin the Nose for Big Laughs
The music room turned into a giggle zone with Pin the Nose on… games. Whether it was Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph, kids had a blast trying to pin the nose in the right spot. Of course, the soccer players couldn’t resist joining the fun, cheering on the kids and making even the wildest nose placements a reason to celebrate.
Wrapping Up the Holiday Spirit
In the small gym, the soccer team helped at the Holiday Shop, making sure every gift was perfect. The players carefully put gifts into bags and wrote each child’s name and who the gift was for. Their attention to detail made sure every present would bring a smile when it was opened.
A Team That Gives Back
The Frosty Festival wasn’t just about fun, it was about bringing people together. The Kansas Wesleyan women’s soccer team showed that they’re more than just athletes; they’re part of the community. Whether it was helping kids learn, laugh, or feel the holiday magic, the team left everyone feeling the true spirit of the season.
