In addition, the page features a collection of student-produced radio shows from KKWU.

The Radio Room

The KKWU Radio room is a cutting-edge facility designed to help students become successful broadcasters. It’s equipped with three microphones, making it easy to conduct dynamic interviews with up to two guests. A professional soundboard provides access to a wide range of sound effects, adding creativity to the shows. The studio also uses Radiologk software, which seamlessly transitions between live broadcasts and music, ensuring a smooth and professional sound. As a result, students can use the studio to record their shows for class assignments, gaining valuable experience in radio and talk show hosting.

Finally, the “On-Air” sign positioned outside the studio alerts passersby to live broadcast. This invites the wider campus community to tune in and experience the vibrant and dynamic world of student-produced radio at Kansas Wesleyan University.
The Student Media Experience
Accordingly, promoting your show is crucial for success as a radio host. Snapchat and Instagram are popular platforms for KWU student-host to promote their shows and boost engagement.
- Breann Johnson, a sophomore studio art major from Springdale, Arkansas, gained valuable experience in a media performance class taught by Professor Paul Green. Johnson hosted a radio show, actively promoting it on her social media platforms.
“The opportunity to host a radio show in Professor Green’s class boosted my confidence. It allowed me to explore my passion for acting in a new and exciting way,” said Johnson.
- Ryah Kilma, a senior Communications major, is the manager for the KKWU radio show. Kilma assumed the role of editor-in-chief this academic year. Where she has served as the KKWU Radio manager for two years. She has been valuable in introducing fresh new music to the radio program. Additionally, Kilma has played a crucial role in organizing and training other students on how to launch their own radio shows.
